materials innovation exchange and by-product synergy NWWelcome to the Materials Innovation Exchange (MAIX)

A project of By-Product Synergy NW and the Network for Business Innovation & Sustainability

The Materials Innovation Exchange is a regional marketplace and a global resource supporting innovation in materials management and waste reduction. The members of BPS NW saw the need for a central clearinghouse of information about materials exchange and reuse, entrepreneurial opportunities, case studies and best practices. In taking a regional approach to materials we created a marketplace for buyers and sellers of materials; maps and directories will be included in the next phase of site development.

Use the Materials Exchange to Buy, Sell or Trade industrial by-products. Turn waste into revenue and find local sources for materials (more regional marketplace hubs will be coming online soon). Get instructions on posting materials and contacting posters of materials in our Help section.

Visit the Innovation Zone for success stories, innovative ideas and tools. Access case studies and use queries to find solutions to difficult materials. You can even Consult an Expert for technical advice on materials reuse, disposal and substitution!

We’ll help you calculate your ROI through the Synergist Calcs Project. Whether it’s through reduced materials or disposal costs, reduced greenhouse gas, or increased revenue from materials sales, we’ll help you calculate the impact of your initiative and post YOUR success story.

By-Product Synergy NW (BPS NW), a program of the Network for Business Innovation and Sustainability, is a model public-private partnership aimed at diverting waste from landfill and taking a closed loop approach to materials and resources on a regional basis. Since 2008, BPS NW has engaged a core group of companies in sharing best practices, creating innovative, entrepreneurial approaches to materials waste, and documenting the beneficial results to participating companies and to the Northwest region. Technical experts and regulatory representatives help members develop innovative approaches to save money and reduce waste.
